Chapter 5

Ethan did not know two things.
First, the building hallway camera had recorded him forcing his way inside.
Second, Noah’s mother’s phone had recorded everything after he entered.
She had started recording the moment she saw him at the door.
Not because she wanted revenge.
Because she had learned that the truth needed proof when Ethan was involved.
By noon, the file was ready.
By late afternoon, Noah’s mother had called her attorney.
By evening, they walked into the wedding.
The plan was simple.
Give the box to the bride’s family attorney quietly.
Leave.
Let the adults handle it.
But Ethan saw them before they reached the side hall.
And instead of letting them pass, he grabbed the microphone.
He wanted an audience.
So Noah gave him one.
Now, in the ballroom, Ethan held the wooden box with shaking hands.
The bride stepped beside him.
“Ethan,” she whispered. “What is it?”
He snapped the lid half-closed.
“Nothing.”
Noah’s voice cut through the microphone.
“It’s not for you to hide.”
The guests gasped.
Ethan turned on him.
“You little—”
The bride stepped back.
“Don’t talk to him like that.”
Ethan looked stunned, as if he had forgotten she was there.
Noah pointed again.
“Look under the lid.”
The bride reached for the box.
Ethan pulled it away.
That was enough.
The bride’s father stood from the front row.
He had been smiling all night.
Now he looked like a man reading a contract with poison between the lines.
“Open it,” he said.
Ethan swallowed.
The ballroom held its breath.
Slowly, the bride took the box from his hands.
Inside was not jewelry.
Not a toy.
Not a childish prank.
There was a flash drive.
A folded court document.
A photo from the apartment hallway camera.
And taped under the lid was Noah’s note.
May you like
For the bride. Before you say I do.
👉 When the bride lifted the photo, Ethan’s wedding turned into the trial he never expected.
