Chapter 3

Serena’s cruelty had a reason.

Not a good one.

A clear one.

Damian’s father had left the mansion and voting control of several family assets to Damian.

But the family trust had one condition.

His mother retained lifetime residence and veto power over the mansion’s sale, renovation, or transfer.

As long as she was alive and mentally competent, no one could remove her from the home.

No one could sell it.

No one could isolate her from her own care team.

Serena found that out when she snooped through the office.

And after that, the old woman became an obstacle.

Serena did not want to marry into the Whitmore family.

She wanted to take control of it.

A quiet mother-in-law in a wheelchair was acceptable.

A mother-in-law with legal power was not.

So Serena began building a story.

The old woman was confused.

Unstable.

Jealous.

Difficult.

Cruel to caregivers.

Dangerous with sharp objects.

By the time Damian returned, Serena planned to convince him his mother needed a private facility “for her own safety.”

Then the mansion would become hers.

But that morning, Serena made one mistake.

She wanted attention.

She was not just Damian’s fiancée.

She was also a social media personality who had built her image around luxury, elegance, and “becoming a wife in a legacy family.”

That morning, while Damian was due to arrive home, Serena went live for her private subscriber group.

She planned to show the mansion steps.

The flowers.

The grand return.

Maybe even stage a tender moment with his mother.

But his mother refused to wear the pearl clips Serena chose.

“I want my own hair down,” the old woman said quietly. “Damian likes it that way.”

Serena’s smile froze.

“You don’t get to embarrass me today.”

“I want my son.”

Serena leaned closer.

“Your son is mine now.”

The old woman tried to roll the wheelchair back.

Serena locked the wheels.

The phone remained propped near her sunglasses, still live, still recording.

The comments at first were confused.

Then horrified.

When Serena grabbed the scissors, viewers began tagging people.

When she cut the first lock of hair, one of Damian’s cousins saw the livestream and called the estate security office.

But Damian reached the steps first.

👉 Serena thought she could control the story — until Damian pressed play and heard her own voice.
