Chapter 2 - THE GIRL AT THE WINDOW

Police entered from both sides, but Jason escaped through an attic passage.
The second girl was Lily Dawson, ten years old, with dyed hair, copied clothes, and bruises created to resemble Emily’s.
Jason worked for Family Continuity Services, a private company that manufactured confusion during custody and inheritance disputes. If two children looked alike, records could be challenged, photos discredited, and witnesses called unreliable.
The plan was simple: record me rescuing “the wrong Emily,” force both girls into state custody, and appoint a guardian who could access my late wife’s trust.
Dr. Claire Vale, the woman on the phone recording, had trained Lily to answer to Emily Carter.
Then police pulled up a third black bag.
It held one red sneaker.
