Chapter 5 - THE BLUE LIGHT

The blue light beneath my shattered phone belonged to an emergency transmitter.

Nora installed it in the case.

When I pressed SEND, it uploaded the video and activated a nearby evidence vault.

That vault contained years of recordings.

Helena coaching Victor.

Raul moving medical files.

Nora pretending to laugh during abuse so the family would not suspect her.

Her laughter in the living room had not been enjoyment.

It had been cover.

I had hated her for standing still.

Now I understood she had been collecting proof.

But understanding did not erase what I felt while lying on the floor.

Nora knew.

“I should have stepped in sooner,” she said.

“Yes.”

She did not ask me to forgive her.

The recordings showed Samuel had funded the family trust from hiding.

He claimed he opposed the nursery.

Yet payments came from his accounts.

He had not returned to rescue us.

He returned because the live upload threatened his ownership.

Then Victor asked for a deal.

He said Helena had another pregnant woman inside County General.
