The drone footage had one problem.
Seven seconds were blocked by trees.
Celestine’s attorneys built their entire defense around them.
They claimed Maren rescued Elodie.
Then, after the danger ended, deliberately attacked Celestine in revenge.
The prosecution knew it was false.
But Celestine’s defense only needed doubt.
Maren was questioned again.
“Did you push Celestine?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“She lunged at me and my daughter.”
“Could you have stepped away?”
“My daughter was behind me. The cliff was beside us.”
“Did you intend for Celestine to fall?”
“No.”
Celestine’s attorney leaked portions of the argument to the press.
Online strangers called Maren a murderer.
Some called her a hero.
Maren hated both.
She had not wanted Celestine dead.
She wanted Elodie alive.
Then Connor, the wedding videographer, called Harold.
“I found something.”
The drone had not been his only camera.
He had been filming a behind-the-scenes wedding reel that morning.
One stationary camera had been placed on the second-floor balcony facing the ocean.
He assumed it captured only scenery.
It captured the cliff path too.
From farther away.
Without obstruction.
The footage showed everything.
Celestine carrying Elodie toward the cliff.
Elodie struggling.
Maren arriving.
Celestine extending the child over open air.
Maren rescuing her.
Then Celestine charging Maren twice.
The second time, Celestine reached around Maren toward Elodie.

At trial, prosecutors played the footage without commentary.
The courtroom was silent.
Celestine watched herself on the screen.
For the first time, she looked small.

The financial records.
The lab courier.
The forged messages.
The estate documents.
Years of manipulation collapsed into one clear pattern.
Whenever someone threatened Celestine’s control, she removed them.
Maren socially.
Elodie legally.

And when Elodie returned, Celestine tried to remove her permanently.
Celestine took the stand against her attorney’s advice.
She blamed everyone.
