Chapter 10 - SAINT AGNES

Sylvia had once given birth to a girl.

Aaron told me he was an only child until Rebecca was born years later.

The Saint Agnes records showed otherwise.

Sylvia’s first baby, Natalie Mitchell, was declared dead after delivery.

Dr. Natalie Reed carried the same first name.

When I asked, she became still.

Her adoption records were sealed.

She had been born at Saint Agnes.

DNA testing confirmed it within hours.

Dr. Reed was Sylvia’s biological daughter.

The baby Sylvia believed had died was alive.

The connection explained why Aaron trained under her.

Sylvia had deliberately placed him near his lost sister without telling either of them.

She used Dr. Reed’s credentials for forged medical records because their shared family connections made signatures easier to imitate.

Dr. Reed stared at the result.

“She knew who I was.”

Rebecca Mitchell nodded.

“Mother keeps every lost daughter close enough to use.”

Saint Agnes had not been abandoned.

Its upper floors were empty, but the basement remained active under Genesis funding.

Federal agents surrounded it.

Dr. Reed insisted on joining the medical team because Lucy might need immediate care.

I stayed connected by secure video.

Agents entered through the burned maternity wing.

They found Ella hiding inside a linen closet.

She had escaped Sylvia and left the drawing.

Lucy remained below.

Ella told agents that Aaron had arrived.

He argued with Sylvia.

He wanted to take Lucy and leave.

Sylvia refused.

“She said the family needs all the girls,” Ella whispered.

Dr. Reed followed the agents underground.

They reached a locked surgical room.

Through the window, Lucy lay unconscious.

Aaron stood beside her.

Sylvia held the silver cup.

When Dr. Reed appeared, Sylvia smiled.

“My first daughter.”

Dr. Reed’s hands shook, but her voice remained steady.

“You poisoned Anna.”

“I corrected a dangerous pregnancy.”

“You sold her twins.”

“I placed them where they were useful.”

“You stole me.”

Sylvia’s smile faded.

“No. You were taken from me.”

For the first time, her cruelty revealed its source.

She had lost a daughter through the same system she later controlled.

Instead of destroying it, she became its leader.

She decided no one would ever take a child from her again.

So she took children from everyone else.

Then Aaron locked the surgical-room door from the inside.

He turned toward Sylvia.

“You were never taking Lucy anywhere.”

He raised a syringe.

May you like

Sylvia looked afraid.

Aaron planned to silence his own mother.
