Ethan laughed once, sharp and panicked.
“She’s manipulating you. She’s been unstable for months.”
The wife opened her eyes.
Her voice was faint.
“You recorded the proof yourself.”
The officer looked at Ethan.
“Turn around.”
Ethan took one step back.
Then bolted toward the curtain.
He made it three feet.
The second officer caught him before he reached the hallway.
Liam did not look away as Ethan was forced against the wall and cuffed.
For years, his sister had been disappearing in front of him.
Now the man responsible was finally standing where the light could reach him.
Ethan kept shouting as they walked him out.
“She needs me! She’s sick! She’s lying!”
No one answered.

Not the officers.
Not Liam.
His wife began to shake after he left.

Liam sat beside the bed and took her hand carefully, avoiding every bruise.

She nodded.

Photos proved injury patterns.
Messages showed he had contacted her employer and described her as unstable long before she ever reported anything.
His search history showed questions about how to explain bruises, how long hospitals kept injury records, and whether spouses could be forced into psychiatric evaluation.
