Chapter 5

PART 5:

Rebecca noticed the timing first.

“The traffic report is too clean,” she said two days before the funeral. “Too fast. The other driver disappeared. No license plate listed. No full camera review attached.”

The mother sat across from her, hollow-eyed.

“What are you saying?”

“I’m saying someone helped bury the footage.”

Rebecca started calling businesses near the Ridgeway intersection.

A gas station.

A pharmacy.

A closed bank.

A dry cleaner.

Everyone said the same thing.

Their cameras didn’t face the road.

Their recordings had already been overwritten.

Then Rebecca reached a small auto repair shop on the corner.

The owner was an older man who had seen the crash.

He said police had collected footage from his street camera.

Rebecca asked if he had a copy.

The man paused.

Then he said, “I keep backups. My nephew installed the system. It saves everything to a drive.”

Thirty minutes later, Rebecca watched the video.

Then she watched it again.

Then she called Detective Harris.

The mother refused to watch at first.

Rebecca did not push her.

But the detective needed her to identify the car.

So she sat in a small conference room, hands clenched in her lap, while the footage played.

There was her SUV.

The green light.

Her car entering the intersection legally.

Then the black sedan.

It did not accidentally run the red light.

It waited.

Then accelerated.

The angle showed the driver’s side window for one clear second.

The mistress.

Adrian’s mistress.

The same woman who would later stand beside him in the chapel wearing black.

The video showed another detail too.

Adrian’s silver pickup parked half a block away.

He had not been stranded.

May you like

He had been watching.

👉 But the footage was only the beginning — Adrian’s phone records revealed how carefully he had planned everything…
