Chapter 7

PART 7:
Adrian tried one last time.
“She’s lying,” he shouted, pointing at his wife. “She’s always been unstable.”
The mother stepped closer.
Her voice was soft.
That made it stronger.
“You called me unstable because I cried when you hurt me. You called me reckless because I protected my children from you. You called me a bad mother because you knew it was the only wound deep enough to keep me quiet.”
Adrian’s eyes darted around the room.
No one looked convinced anymore.
No one looked on his side.
Not his friends.
Not his relatives.
Not even the priest.
The mother pointed to the two caskets.
“They were not evidence. They were not a way for you to win custody. They were not part of your story.”
Her voice broke.
But she kept going.
“They were our daughters.”
For the first time since the funeral began, Adrian looked at the caskets.
Not with grief.
With fear.
Because now everyone could see what he was.
The detectives turned him around and cuffed him.
The mistress started sobbing as she was arrested too.
But nobody comforted her.
As Adrian was pulled down the aisle, the mother did not chase him with rage.
She did not scream.
She did not fall apart.
She simply stood between her daughters and watched justice take its first step.
Months later, the trial confirmed everything.
The mistress took a deal and testified that Adrian planned the crash, chose the intersection, and told her the cameras were “handled.”
He had been wrong.
The repair shop’s backup destroyed him.
So did the phone records.
So did the money trail.
So did the footage of his silver pickup waiting nearby while his family’s car entered the intersection.
Adrian was convicted of murder, conspiracy, evidence tampering, insurance fraud, and witness intimidation.
The mistress received a long sentence too.

Neither of them ever walked free from what they had done.
👉 But even after justice was served, nothing could erase the silence waiting for her at home…
