PART 7:
The officers obtained access with her statement and the device in Grant’s possession.
What they found was enough to change the entire room.
The cloud folder held more than one video.
It held weeks of them.
Arguments Grant thought proved she was emotional.
Threats he thought he had deleted.
Photos of bruises she had taken and hidden.
A video from that night, still processing, but clear enough.
Grant’s voice filled the small ER office where the officers watched it.
Say one word, and you lose everything.
Then another line.
By tomorrow, everyone will believe you did this to yourself.
When the officers returned to the room, Grant was no longer smiling.
He tried charm first.
Then anger.
Then victimhood.
“This is a misunderstanding,” he said. “She’s been trying to set me up.”
Dr. Reed looked at the wife’s injuries.
Then at Grant.
“No,” he said. “You set yourself up.”
Grant lunged toward his coat.
One officer grabbed his arm.
The phone slipped from the pocket and hit the floor.
The screen lit up again.
Another notification appeared.
Backup complete.
For a second, nobody moved.
Then the wife gave the smallest laugh through her tears.
It wasn’t happy.
It was the sound of a door unlocking after years in the dark.
Grant heard it.
His face twisted with rage.
“You think this is over?” he snapped.
The officer tightened the cuffs.
“For tonight, it is,” he said.
Grant was arrested before sunrise.
But the case did not end in the ER.
It became bigger.
The cloud evidence showed a pattern.
Dates.
Times.
Threats.
Injuries.
Control.
His messages proved he had contacted her employer and relatives to make her look unstable.
His search history proved he had researched how to explain bruises.
His draft statements proved he planned to blame her before the attack happened.
