Lily lived at a private boarding home in Virginia.
She was two years old.
Margaret visited every month as “Grandmother.”
The caretakers believed Clara had died and Julian had surrendered custody.
I had never signed any document.
A replacement man had appeared on video using my face and voice.
The trust maintained a trained impersonator for legal transactions.
Lily was moved into independent protection.

But she did not demand the child be placed with us immediately.
“We’ll earn whatever relationship she chooses,” she said.
