Chapter 10 - THE HOUSE

The suburban estate, hotel penthouse, and Pierce headquarters were held by Ashford collateral trusts.

Jonathan owned none of them outright.

Patricia had raised him to believe possession followed power.

Elias produced the deeds.

The estate belonged to a charitable housing trust Evelyn created.

The ballroom belonged to the hotel employees’ pension fund after Jonathan defaulted.

Then video showed Patricia placing a sensor beneath Sophie’s chair before the gala.

It measured the child’s pulse, crying, and movement.

Elias knew the sensor program existed but claimed it was designed to detect threats.

The data had been redirected into the succession system.

Protection technology had become control.

I asked Elias to resign from the trust board.

He refused until Sophie asked, “You knew they watched me?”

He resigned.

Then federal agents entered carrying a warrant for Rachel Ashford.
