The second boy’s name was Liam Brooks.
He had been raised in a private residence funded by the Parker trust.
His biological father was Michael.
His biological mother was Ellie.
Ellie stood from the table so suddenly her chair crashed backward.
She denied it.
DNA proved otherwise.
Eight years earlier, before Michael married me, he and Ellie had used a fertility clinic under Alana’s direction.
Michael claimed he never knew an embryo survived.
Ellie knew.
She had visited Liam secretly.
Alana raised him as a backup heir.
If Dustin failed the family’s “character standards,” Liam would replace him in the trust.
The cold potato was a test.

He said:
