That was when I knew.
She didn’t know everything.
But she knew enough.
I reached into my back pocket and pulled out my wallet.
Not dramatic.
Not loud.
Just a black leather wallet with a worn military ID tucked inside.
I placed it on the table.
Then I pulled out a small challenge coin.
Blackened steel.
One side carried a ghosted rifle silhouette.
The other carried one word.
WRAITH.
Malcolm leaned forward.
Arthur froze.
Donovan stared at the coin.
Fiona looked like the blood had drained from her body.
“My name is Lieutenant Colonel Jocelyn Pierce,” I said.
Nobody moved.
“I served as senior instructor and evaluator for the advanced sniper selection course during the two cycles Fiona attended.”
The tent went dead silent.
Then I looked straight at my sister.
“And Wraith,” I said, “was me.”
Fiona stood so fast her chair tipped backward.
“You’re lying.”
