Chapter 6 - THE SON I FORGOT

Medical scans revealed evidence of a prior delivery.

Five years earlier, during a period Ivan called my “nervous collapse,” I spent three months inside a private wellness clinic.

Cynthia arranged it after I began questioning company finances.

I remembered medication, white walls, and waking with abdominal pain.

The official records claimed an ovarian procedure.

The archive showed a pregnancy.

A boy.

Lucas.

Cynthia took him immediately after birth.

Ivan signed the transfer form.

He claimed he believed the baby had died.

The footage proved otherwise.

He stood beside Cynthia while a nurse carried the newborn away.

“You were awake,” I said during the next interview.

“I was drugged.”

“You were walking.”

“I didn’t understand.”

“You signed.”

“My mother said the child would destroy the company.”

Every answer returned to Cynthia.

Every choice returned to him.

Lucas was now four.

Cynthia raised him as a future Morgan heir, hidden until she could decide how to introduce him publicly.

My current incapacity petition would have allowed her to present Lucas as Ivan’s child from a previous relationship and position him inside the family trust.

My shares would fund the son stolen from me.

Federal agents searched school and medical records.

Lucas had been moved with Cynthia and Vale.

Sophie and Lucas were together.

Two children controlled through lies about their mothers.

Dr. Reed reviewed Lucas’s health files.

He had a rare immune disorder.

Cynthia’s pharmacy records showed she obtained biological samples from me over several years.

Blood draws I believed were routine.

She used them to treat Lucas without revealing his existence.

The barbecue sedation may also have enabled another blood collection after I became unconscious.

My injury was public theater.

The medical plan continued beneath it.

Rebecca froze all private medical authorizations connected to Cynthia.

Then the board discovered Morgan Development had funded a biotechnology subsidiary called Meridian Crown.

Its research centered on hereditary immune treatment.

Lucas was listed as PATIENT M.

Sophie appeared as CONTROL E.

The children were not only heirs.

They were research subjects.

Cynthia’s obsession with family power had merged with medicine.

Then Sophie finally agreed to speak with Eleanor.

Her first question was not why she left.

It was, “Why did Grandma take blood from me?”

Eleanor looked toward Dr. Reed.

Tests showed Sophie’s samples had been used to develop Lucas’s treatment.

One stolen child had been used to support another.

Cynthia always transformed family into hierarchy.

Someone existed to benefit.

Someone else existed to pay.

That night, Lucas appeared in a video sent to my phone.

He sat beside Cynthia inside a private clinic.

She looked into the camera.

“You overturned one table, Claire.”

May you like

Behind her were rows of medical files.

“Do you know how many families I can overturn in return?”
