Chapter 7

PART 7:
Months later, Hannah returned to training.
This time, the field was different.
New instructors.
Clear rules.
Medical oversight.
No one hit after the whistle.
No one called cruelty tradition.
Ava came back for one day.
She stood quietly near the fence while Hannah completed the final combat course.
She did not shout.
She did not interfere.
She simply watched.
Hannah pushed through the course with her shoulder healed, her jaw tight, and her eyes locked forward.
Every step carried something heavier than gear.

It carried the shame Brock tried to put on her.

Her face broke into tears and a smile at the same time.
“I passed,” she said.
Ava nodded.
“I know.”
Hannah laughed through tears.
“You didn’t even watch the whole thing.”
Ava looked at the field.
“I didn’t need to.”
Hannah understood.
Ava had not come to see if Hannah was strong.
She already knew.
She had come to see the system finally stop punishing her for being hurt.
Before Ava left, Okafor walked her to the gate.
“You made a lot of enemies,” Okafor said.
Ava shrugged.
“I’ve had worse.”
“You also changed this place.”
Ava looked back at the training yard.
Soldiers were running drills.
Hard drills.
Real drills.
But nobody was being broken for entertainment.

“That was the point,” she said.
👉 Just when Ava was ready to leave, Okafor revealed what Brock called her in his final statement — and Ava’s answer said everything…
