Chapter 9

PART 9:

Dominic’s mother lost her position on two charity boards after the footage became part of public court records.

Nobody wanted to sit beside a woman who had watched torture and called it discipline.

His father retired quietly from the family business after shareholders questioned his judgment.

The house was eventually sold during the civil settlement.

The kitchen with the marble island, the warm lights, and the hidden camera no longer belonged to any of them.

That mattered less than people expected.

Because the young wife had learned that a mansion could be a prison, and a one-bedroom apartment could be freedom.

A year later, she cooked steak again.

Not because anyone demanded it.

Because she wanted to take back the smell.

The advocate, now her friend, sat at the small table with a salad bowl and two cheap candles between them.

The steak was not perfect.

A little too done on one edge.

A little underseasoned.

She looked at it and laughed nervously.

Her friend smiled.

“Looks good to me.”

The young wife picked up her fork.

Her scar pulled tight as she cut the meat.

For a second, she saw Dominic’s face.

Then she blinked.

He was gone.

The kitchen was quiet.

The stove was off.

The door was locked.

The phone was charged.

Her hand was her own.

She took one bite.

Then another.

No punishment came.

No voice.

No hand.

No lesson.

Only dinner.

Later that night, she stood at the sink washing the plates slowly.

Water ran over the scar on her palm.

It still looked different from the rest of her skin.

It always would.

But she no longer saw it as proof of what Dominic did.

She saw it as proof of the moment she pressed the button.

The moment she chose herself.

May you like

The moment the world finally saw what happened behind polished walls.

👉 And when the final restitution letter arrived, she finally understood where her place had always been.
