Chapter 1

PART 1:
The marble lobby went silent the moment his wife let go of the suitcases.
Both handles slammed against the floor with a sharp crack that echoed through the glass walls of Sinclair & Rowe Financial.
Employees froze.
The receptionist stopped typing.
Two junior analysts turned away from the coffee bar.
And near the elevator, in a cream-colored blouse, the young intern Ethan had been “mentoring” went completely pale.
His wife stood in front of her with two massive black suitcases at her feet.
Her coat was buttoned.
Her hair was neat.
Her face was calm.
Too calm.
Then she looked the intern directly in the eyes and said,
“Congratulations.”
The intern’s mouth opened slightly.
No words came out.
The wife bent down, unzipped the first suitcase, and let it fall open just enough for everyone to see what was inside.
Expensive dress shirts.
Italian leather shoes.
A silver watch.
A bottle of cologne.
And a wedding photo turned face down against the fabric.
The intern took half a step back.
The wife did not move.
She only pointed to one folded white shirt near the top.
A faint pink lipstick mark stained the collar.
And the sharp smell of perfume lifted into the air.
“You forgot your perfume on his shirt,” the wife said.
Someone gasped behind the front desk.
The intern looked toward the elevator like she wanted to disappear.
Then the elevator doors opened.
Ethan Sinclair stepped out in a navy suit, one hand holding his phone, his smile already prepared for another day of being admired.
But the smile died before he reached the lobby floor.
His wife was there.
The intern was there.
His clothes were there.
And the entire company was watching.
For three seconds, Ethan did not breathe.
His wife slowly turned toward him.
Her voice was cold enough to cut glass.

“Don’t worry, Ethan,” she said. “I packed your lies too.”
👉 But the suitcases were only the beginning of what she had brought into that lobby…
