Chapter 6

PART 6:
The next morning, while Ryan slept, Ava called her grandmother’s attorney.
She called the security company her grandmother had used for years.
She called the bank.
She called the housekeeper and told her to take the day off.
Then she packed Ryan’s things.
Not carefully.
Not gently.
She put his suits in one suitcase.
Shoes in another.
His watches in a padded box.
His toiletries in a bag.
And beside them, she placed the one thing Ryan did not know she had.
Her phone.
Recording.
It had captured the threats from the night before.
His voice saying the house was his now.
His mother telling Ava no one would believe her.
Ryan saying, “I can make you disappear from your own life.”
Ava placed the phone in the suitcase on purpose.
She wanted him to see it.
She wanted him to understand that this time, the silence was over.
By the time Ryan returned from a meeting with his mother in the passenger seat of his car, his life was on the lawn.
And Ava was waiting at the gate.
Now he stood there, sweating through his expensive shirt while the old attorney held the file.
Ryan pointed at the man.
“You can’t remove me from my marital home.”
The attorney’s expression did not change.
“The residence is not marital property. It was inherited by Ava before the marriage and remained solely titled in her name. You were permitted to live here as her spouse. That permission has been revoked.”
Ryan’s mother shook her head.
“No. That can’t be right. Ryan paid for the renovations.”
The attorney turned a page.
“Paid from an account funded by Ava’s estate trust. Your son submitted invoices under his company name and reimbursed himself.”
Ryan went still.
Ava looked at him.
That was the part she had not known until that morning.
The attorney had found it in the records.
Ryan had not just tried to steal the house.
May you like
He had already been stealing from it.
👉 But when Ava told them she had called the bank, the trust officer, the title company, and the police, Ryan knew the whole world was about to see him.
