Chapter 7 - The Doctor Who Signed My Death

The physician’s name was Dr. Samuel Keene.
I recognized it immediately.
He had signed my father’s death certificate.
Nathan stared at me.
“Claire?”
“My father’s death was ruled a heart attack.”
Evelyn covered her mouth.
Beatrice entered the kitchen with Julian behind her.
Neither of them knew what we had found.
Julian looked at the police officers surrounding Owen.
“What happened?”
“Owen carried the warehouse ignition remote,” I said.
Julian didn’t even glance at him.
“That proves Owen acted alone.”
Owen’s head snapped up.
“You told me—”
Julian cut him off.
“I have never instructed you to harm anyone.”
The betrayal unfolded exactly as I predicted.
Owen looked from Julian to Beatrice.
Neither defended him.
He turned toward the officers.
“I’ll cooperate.”
Julian’s jaw tightened.
Beatrice stepped forward.
“Owen is a disgruntled employee.”
“He has worked for you for eleven years,” I said.
“He became unstable.”
“Everyone becomes unstable the moment they can expose your family.”
Thomas Reddick and several board members entered behind them.
Nathan displayed the insurance policy.
Thomas read the amount aloud.
“Fifty million dollars.”
Julian shook his head.
“I’ve never seen that document.”
Nathan opened the metadata.
The policy application had been created on Julian’s office computer.
Beatrice spoke too quickly.
“Computers can be hacked.”
Nathan clicked another file.
A scanned medical report appeared.
It claimed I had an aggressive neurological disease and less than three months to live.
My supposed symptoms included memory loss, paranoia, and violent outbursts.
Suddenly, every cruel accusation Julian had made about me had a purpose.
He hadn’t merely wanted people to think I was unstable.
He had built a medical history designed to explain my death.
If the warehouse plan failed, another “accident” could happen later.
And when it did, no one would question it.
I looked at Julian.
“How many ways did you plan to kill me?”
He didn’t answer.
Beatrice did.
“You always make everything about yourself.”
That coldness finally silenced the kitchen.
Even Julian looked at her.
I opened the next document.
Dr. Keene’s payment ledger.
Monthly transfers from a shell company called Bellweather Consulting.
Nathan traced its ownership.
The account belonged to Beatrice.
Thomas turned toward her.
“You paid the doctor who falsified Claire’s diagnosis?”
Beatrice lifted her chin.
“I paid for private medical consultation.”
“For a woman you claimed was no longer part of your family?”
She had no answer.
A police detective entered and asked for Julian.
“We received a call from Dr. Samuel Keene.”
Julian’s face changed.
The detective continued.
“He says he has information about Harrison Mercer’s death.”
Before anyone could respond, the lights in the kitchen went out.
A scream came from the ballroom.
Then the giant screen turned on by itself.
A live video appeared.
Dr. Keene sat tied to a chair.
May you like
A masked figure stood behind him.
👉 Dr. Keene was ready to expose the truth about Claire’s father, but someone inside Julian’s circle intended to silence him before he could speak.
