Chapter 10 - The Armored Vehicle

While Ward spoke with investigators, Avery noticed movement near the armored range vehicle.
A junior instructor carried two ammunition cases toward the rear compartment.
Training had been suspended.
No equipment should have moved.
Avery pointed.
“Miles.”
They both saw the instructor glance toward Raines.
Raines gave the smallest nod.
The instructor opened the vehicle.
Ward shouted for him to stop.
He ran.
Miles intercepted him near the razor-wire barrier, blocking his path without striking him.
The instructor dropped one case.
Its latch burst open.
Inside were scorecards from previous classes.
Not ammunition.
Some were torn.
Others had overwritten lane stamps identical to Avery’s.
The second case contained old hard drives and a metal scoring stamp.
Raines moved toward the vehicle.
Avery stepped into his path.
“Stay behind the line, Colonel.”
His face twisted.
“You do not give me orders.”
Ward approached with two security officers.
“Today she does not need to.”
The junior instructor began shaking.
He admitted Raines ordered him to remove the cases before investigators arrived.

Raines’ escape route had collapsed in front of the entire staff.
👉 The armored vehicle contained years of manipulated scores—but one file carried Avery’s grandfather’s name.
