Colonel Raines was charged with fraud, obstruction, destruction of military records, conspiracy, and abuse of authority.
General Pierce was arrested for accepting payments and suppressing Thomas Cole’s report.
Sentinel Meridian lost its federal contracts.
Several executives were charged with illegally recruiting active-duty soldiers and concealing unauthorized operations.
The Army reviewed hundreds of Blackridge evaluations.
Twenty-three former candidates had their records corrected.
Nine were offered reinstatement or retirement adjustments.
Caleb Dunn received a formal apology forty years after losing the career he had earned.
When the letter arrived, he called Avery.
“Your grandfather should have lived to see this.”
Avery looked at Thomas’s notebook on her desk.
“He knew evidence might outlive him.”
Dunn’s voice broke.
“He was the only officer who believed me.”
“No,” Avery said. “He was the first.”
The investigation restored names.
It restored benefits.
