Chapter 7

PART 7:

The uncle was arrested at dawn.

Not quietly.

Not privately.

The police took him through the front entrance of the mansion while reporters gathered at the gate.

He tried to keep his face calm.

But when he saw Fiona standing beside the old doctor near the ambulance bay, his mask slipped.

“You should have stayed a nurse,” he said.

Fiona looked at him.

“I did.”

That answer followed him into every headline.

The trial became one of the biggest scandals the city had seen in years.

The family tried to bury it at first.

They said Arthur’s illness was exaggerated.

They said the nurse was unstable.

They said the old doctor had been misled.

Then the prosecution played the bedroom footage.

The camera showed Fiona cutting the pillow.

Showed the insects falling onto the bed.

Showed the uncle demanding, “What did you do?”

Showed the doctor turning Arthur’s head and finding punctures.

Then they showed the lab results.

The payment records.

The maid’s testimony.

The uncle’s messages to a criminal contact.

How long before a child’s chronic illness becomes fatal?

Can medical poisoning look like immune disease?

How to challenge guardianship of a minor heir.

The courtroom went dead silent after that.

Arthur did not testify in open court.

Fiona fought hard against it.

So did the old doctor.

Instead, the judge allowed a recorded statement from a child psychologist’s office.

Arthur sat in a small chair holding a stuffed dinosaur.

His voice was soft.

“I thought I was sick because I was bad,” he said. “Fiona told me I wasn’t bad. She said somebody did something bad to me.”

The jury watched with wet eyes.

The uncle looked away.

👉 But when the verdict came, the family money that once controlled the city could not protect him anymore…
