Chapter 6

PART 6:
Ethan’s expression hardened.
Margaret noticed immediately and stepped in front of him.
“My son will not be destroyed over a misunderstanding.”
Victoria’s smile was cold.
“Your son destroyed himself when he put his hands on my daughter.”
Margaret’s eyes flashed.
“You think your uniform scares me?”
Victoria stepped closer.
“No. But the evidence should.”
That was when she opened the folder in her hand.
Margaret looked at it.
So did Brandon.
So did Ethan.
Victoria had not come empty-handed.
Before she reached the hospital, she had received a call from Emily’s nurse.
Then she made calls of her own.
Military families knew how to build emergency networks.
Lawyers.
Victim advocates.
A retired detective.
A domestic violence liaison.
And one person Margaret had forgotten existed.
The new housekeeper.
The woman who had left the service door open.
She had not done it by accident.
She had seen enough during her first week at the Prescott estate.
She had heard Emily crying behind the east wing door.
She had seen Ethan take her phone.
She had watched Margaret order security to “keep Mrs. Prescott from upsetting herself.”
So when Emily ran, the housekeeper did not stop her.
She saved the hallway footage before the Prescott security team could delete it.
Then she sent it to Victoria Hart.
Victoria placed printed stills from the footage on the hospital counter.
Emily by the locked door.
Ethan grabbing her wrist.
Margaret speaking to the guard outside the east wing.
A timestamp.
A date.
A truth no family money could polish.
Brandon stared at the photos.
His face went gray.
Margaret whispered, “Where did you get those?”
Victoria leaned in.
“From someone in your house who still has a conscience.”
Ethan took a step back.
May you like
Security moved closer.
👉 Five minutes later, the police arrived — and for the first time, the Prescott name could not control the room.
