Chapter 12 - SOPHIE

Sophie entered independent protection.
No automatic placement with me or Daniel.
Our first meeting happened through glass.
She wore a tiny sailor dress.
She asked, “Are you Captain Mom?”
“My name is Olivia.”
“Are you taking me to the house?”
“No.”
That answer confused her.
The house had been presented as reward and destiny.
She had been trained to inherit the archive.
The court removed her biometric authority.
No child would serve as a key.
Daniel admitted he had known Sophie existed for three months.
He delayed telling me because he wanted proof.
Another man choosing evidence over my right to know.
His injury did not erase that.
Then Claire requested to see Sophie.
She believed the child might choose her as mother.
The advocate said no competition.
Sophie would decide relationships slowly.
The family system began losing power when titles stopped being automatic.
Then Nathan Brooks released a current video.
Grandma’s house.
Harold with the bat.
Me on the rug.
The scene repeated with another Olivia.
Another family.
