He knew funds arrived.
He said he thought capital contribution from family.

ELEANOR:

He asked once.

Then some culpability became negligence, some intentional concealment later.
Then prosecutor separated.
Then Richard found Thomas’s note:
Grant is guilty of not wanting to know.

Then one more bank account tied to Grant had payment from Michael Mercer labeled “son.”
Date twenty years earlier.
Eleanor had used Michael’s money for Grant’s education secretly.
Arthur did not know.

Then I understood Eleanor’s deep tie to Mercer.

The vendor scheme grew from personal entanglement.

Then one final message from Eleanor to Michael before the gala where Grant met Vanessa:
