Chapter 14 - THE REPLICA HOUSE

The return address led to a replica of Judith’s suburban home.
Same beige hallway.
Same family photo.
Same coat hooks.
Same rug.
Same open front door.
The network had built training houses where actors and children rehearsed identity switches.
Federal teams entered.
One room contained rows of wigs, clothes, phones, and clippers.
Another held scripts.
Hair grows back.
She needed humility.
Your husband told me to do whatever I thought was best.
The exact dialogue had been sold as a “maternal destabilization protocol.”
Our pain was a product.
Then FAMILY CONTINUITY activated the house remotely.
Doors locked.
Lights brightened.
A synthetic Judith appeared on the hallway monitor.
It ordered a child actor to sit.
The girl refused.
The system repeated the command.
She refused again.
A small act.
The protocol stalled.
Independent teams disconnected the server sections.
No master command.
No single owner.
Then a final live feed opened.
Our old house.
Meadow, now eighteen, stood in the hallway.
Except the real Meadow was beside me.
The video showed another version of her holding clippers.
A woman wearing my face blocked the door.
The cycle had reversed.
The system wanted the daughter to become the abuser and the mother the victim.
Meadow watched once.
Then turned away.

“That isn’t me.”
Reality did not need the machine’s permission.
