Chapter 3 - ARTHUR’S LETTER
Arthur’s letter began with an apology.
Helen,
I spent years protecting Daniel from consequences and called it fatherhood.
If he removes you from the house after my death, it means Melissa has convinced him the second trust belongs to them.
It does not.
The house is yours.
The company shares are yours.
The emergency account is not an inheritance.
It is evidence.
Arthur had discovered Daniel and Melissa secretly borrowing against company property.
Fake vendor contracts.
Transferred titles.
Insurance policies opened in Arthur’s name after his diagnosis.
The emergency account held copies of every transaction.
Daniel believed the account contained cash.
It contained proof.
Then Arthur wrote one final warning.
Do not trust Robert completely.
He helped me build the evidence.
He also believes the company should have been his.
I looked at Robert.
He did not deny it.
“I wanted what was stolen from me,” he said.
“Did you help Arthur?”
“Yes.”
“For him or for yourself?”
“Both.”
No clean savior.
Then Melissa grabbed the envelope and tore the last page.
Ethan shouted.
Emma began crying.
The torn fragment revealed a map beneath the house.
A hidden room.
