Chapter 8 - NURSE RACHEL
Rachel admitted installing the device.
Thomas Jr. had threatened her younger sister, who was pregnant inside a Carter-affiliated clinic.
He ordered Rachel to create access points in the delivery room, switch the first blood sample, and attach the custody documents beneath my chart.
She did all three.
She also delayed the gas concentration, giving me time to respond.
Victim and participant.
Both.
Rachel surrendered her phone and identified Thomas Jr.’s network.
Her sister, Hannah Stone, was located and removed from the clinic safely.
Hannah chose independent care.
Rachel faced charges but received consideration for cooperation.

The program had survived through secrecy.
Public exposure helped.

Daniel provided a statement admitting abandonment, cooperation with Thomas, and his failure to warn me.
He did not ask me to forgive him.
He requested supervised contact with Noah after release from the hospital.

Caroline and I met for the first time outside crisis.
She held Luke while I held Noah.
The infants looked similar but not identical.

Caroline denied requesting suppression.
The log referred to another woman present during the embryo-switch procedure at twenty weeks.

I believed she died from breast cancer seven years earlier.
She was alive.
