Weeks later, Audrey left the hospital in Sophia’s car.
She did not return to Dominic’s estate.
She moved into a small apartment near the river, with wide windows and a couch Sophia found secondhand.
For the first few nights, Audrey slept with the lights on.
Her body healed slowly.
Her grief did not follow a schedule.
Some mornings, she woke with her hand on her stomach before remembering.
Some afternoons, she sat on the floor holding the ultrasound photo, unable to breathe.
Sophia never told her to move on.
She only came over with soup, legal updates, and silence when silence was kinder.
The divorce took eight months.

The woman from the yacht disappeared the moment Dominic’s money became uncertain and his name became dangerous.
He lost more than Audrey.
He lost the image that had protected him his entire life.
His mother tried to blame Audrey until the final hearing.
“She ruined my son,” she said outside the courtroom.
Audrey heard it.
This time, she turned around.
“No,” she said. “You raised him to believe women were disposable. I just stopped being one.”
Reporters went silent.
Dominic’s mother had no answer.
At the final hearing, Audrey received the settlement Sophia had fought for.
But the money mattered less than the order.

His mother could not contact her.
Audrey’s medical records, frozen embryo records, and personal documents were returned fully to her control.
The judge ended with one sentence Audrey never forgot.
“Mrs. Vale, you entered this courtroom injured, but not powerless.”
