Chapter 7 - MY SIGNATURE

The protocol file carried my signature.

I had signed it twelve years earlier during a humanitarian evacuation program.

The original version required parental consent, court review, and independent verification.

Brooks removed those safeguards later.

My genuine signature remained beneath altered language.

I had helped build the doorway.

Others turned it into a cage.

I disclosed my role publicly and stepped away from command authority during the investigation.

That cost me influence.

It preserved trust.

Then Michael revealed why he selected me as guardian.

He knew I would challenge orders once children were physically in front of me.

He manipulated my conscience from a distance.

Another adult using children to force a result.

I told him so.

He accepted it.

The twins entered temporary care near me but not under me.

I visited only when invited.

Lily asked for the Army jacket I wrapped around her.

I gave it to her without rank insignia.

She slept beneath it for weeks.

Then Fort Halcyon’s system activated remotely.

Every child file began deleting.

A message appeared:

RETURN LILY AND OWEN TO GATE 17.

The network wanted the original airport scene repeated.
