I turned another page.

“On May 19, you texted Chief Warrant Officer Dale Mercer: ‘Shaw won’t be a problem. File’s handled.’”

The cafeteria went colder.

Tank stared at me.

His silence was the first confession.

I continued.

“On June 2, Hospital Corpsman Nathan Price reported that you ordered him to alter a medical readiness document.”

Near the back, a young man in Navy medical blues went pale.

Nathan Price.

He had given me permission to say his name.

But hearing it in that room still hurt.

“When he refused,” I said, “you reassigned him to night cleanup duty for twenty-three consecutive days and told other personnel he was unstable.”
