Chapter 12 - The Account Ruby Let Him Empty

Two months earlier, Ruby noticed unexplained login attempts on her banking application.
She changed the password.
The attempts continued.
Then she discovered Jameson had installed remote-access software on their home computer.
He could view financial documents, emails, and passwords.
Ruby did not confront him.
She created a new secure account at another institution.
Her salary began depositing there.
She transferred only enough money into the joint account to cover household bills.
The rest remained protected.
Then she opened a separate monitored account containing $18,000.
Jameson found it.
He believed it was her emergency fund.
Over six weeks, he transferred nearly all of it into his property company.
Ruby documented every transaction.
Rachel had already sent the records to investigators.
Jameson stared at her.
“You knew?”
“Every time.”
“You let me take it?”
“I let you create evidence.”
Eliana whispered, “That money was marital.”
“Some of it was,” Ruby said. “The transfers were still concealed and used for fraudulent filings.”
Jameson’s face became gray.
Ruby continued.
“The balance you saw was never my real savings.”
“How much do you have?”
She did not answer.
That was not the complete secret she intended to reveal.
Not yet.
Brooke looked from Ruby to Jameson.
“You told me she had nothing without you.”
Ruby almost smiled.
Jameson’s desperation shifted into pleading.
“Ruby, I was angry. Mom kept saying you would leave.”
“You were sleeping with Brooke.”
“It didn’t mean anything.”
Brooke recoiled.
“Excuse me?”
Jameson ignored her.
“We can go to counseling.”
“You prepared false custody papers.”
“I won’t file them.”
“They are already evidence.”
“I’ll sign the house over.”
“You cannot give me what you stole from me.”
He dropped back onto his knees.
The relatives watched in stunned silence.
Eliana looked humiliated by her son’s begging.
“Get up,” she snapped.
Jameson pressed his palms together.
“Ruby, please. For our daughter.”
Ruby’s expression changed for the first time.
“Do not use her again.”
The words were quiet.
Jameson stopped speaking.
Then Rachel received a call from the title investigator.
The forged deed had triggered a deeper review.
There was another lien application tied to the house.
This one had been submitted under Brooke’s name.

Brooke went completely still.
👉 Jameson thought Brooke was only helping him refinance the house—but she had quietly prepared to take it from him too.
