Chapter 12 - The Video Diane Wanted Hidden

The custody hearing was the first time I saw Diane again.
She arrived perfectly dressed.
Pearls.
Cream-colored suit.
Calm smile.
She looked like someone attending a charity luncheon.
Her attorney described me as “volatile.”
Then came the photograph of Diane’s bruised cheek.
I heard whispers.
Diane looked at me triumphantly.
Karen stood.
“May we provide the preceding forty-seven seconds?”
The room became quiet.
The video played.
Lily crawling.
Diane gripping the leash.
The yank.
My daughter sliding across the floor.
Her scream.
“Mommy... it hurts!”
Then me entering.
Removing the leash.
Diane lunging.
My slap.
No one whispered anymore.
Ryan stared at the table.
Diane’s attorney stopped taking notes.
Then came Ryan’s arrival.
“How dare you hit my mother?”
My humiliation played in front of strangers.
But I kept watching.
Because then Lily said:
“Daddy used to do that.”
Ryan’s face changed on-screen.
Finally:
“You and Daddy didn’t do that alone.”
The clip ended.
Karen presented the access logs.
The disabled cameras.
The unknown administrator.
Thomas Bell.
Melissa’s testimony.
The forged deed.
The planned “reaction incident.”
Diane’s elegant mask finally cracked.
“That woman is lying!”
Melissa flinched.
Diane stood.
“She was paid!”
“Mrs. Parker,” the judge warned.
Diane pointed at me.
“She turned my son against his family!”
Ryan finally looked up.
“No, Mom.”
Diane froze.
Ryan’s voice shook.
“You turned me against mine.”
For the first time, Diane looked frightened.
The court entered temporary protective orders and left Lily in my care while the broader proceedings continued.
Ryan did not contest it.
He requested supervised contact only.
Outside, reporters weren’t waiting.
There was no cinematic mob.
Just courthouse steps, cold air, and consequences beginning slowly.
Real justice wasn’t instant.
But it had started.
Then Karen received a call.

Thomas Bell had agreed to cooperate.
And according to his attorney, he possessed emails Diane believed had been permanently deleted.
