The termination plan had three branches.
If I trusted Harper, both of us would be framed as conspirators.
If I distrusted her, the marriage would collapse and custody of Violet would transfer to military guardianship.
If Violet died, Claire would replace her as legal daughter and inherit my sealed command trust.
The assault needed to be severe enough to create fear but not necessarily death.
Nathan struck harder than planned.
The program lost control of the medical outcome.
Then the plan named its director.
Eleanor Ashbourne.
Civilian contractor overseeing military family resilience.
She had funded our home, Claire’s placement, Nathan’s training, and Catherine’s identity.
General Brooks was one regional commander.
Detective Grant one civilian asset.
The system called our family a “dual-paternal loyalty model.”
Ashbourne was arrested at a conference.
She claimed national-security immunity.
The court rejected it.
Then she released edited footage of me striking Violet in the hallway.
Synthetic.
Convincing.
Public opinion split.
Original metadata, hospital evidence, and the alarm log preserved the real sequence.
Justice did not depend on every stranger believing.
Then Nathan appeared voluntarily at the federal courthouse.
He carried Laura’s body.
Alive.
Unconscious.
