Harper admitted Laura came to the house while I was deployed.
She looked older but proved her identity through private details.
Laura said Claire was being moved between replacement families.
She asked Harper to help locate the hidden drive.
Harper agreed without telling me.
Why trust Laura?
Because Laura showed evidence I had concealed Claire.
Harper felt betrayed.
The program exploited that wound.
Then Laura disappeared after warning Harper that “Ethan” would return early.
Harper thought the man arriving through the front door was me.
The false return had been prepared emotionally.
She wanted answers.
Violet wanted caution.

General Brooks stood outside.
The man arrested under that name had no scar from a known helicopter crash.
The real general might already have been replaced.
Military biometrics were compromised.
We needed evidence independent of records.
Laura had hidden one inside Violet’s school backpack.
A military identification disc with biological material.
DNA matched Claire.
And me.
Claire was truly my daughter.
The disc also carried another profile.
