Nathan Cole was my identical twin brother.
Officially, I had been born alone.
In reality, the Army Family Continuity Program separated us as infants.
I was raised by the Hayes family.
Nathan entered a covert placement system and trained in intelligence impersonation.
The same program that hid Claire later used Nathan to monitor her.
He became the father figure I never knew existed.
When the program decided Claire’s identity had become a liability, Nathan fled with her.
General Brooks accused him of kidnapping.
Nathan claimed Brooks intended to erase Claire and replace her with another subject.
Why impersonate me?
Because Claire trusted my face through photographs, and Harper controlled access to my home.
Nathan needed the drive proving Brooks’s crimes.
He used my identity to get inside.
Violet exposed him.
His strike may have been panic, not planned murder.
It remained assault.
Then Nathan sent me coordinates.
A safe house outside Richmond.
Claire waited there.
Federal agents found the building empty.
A blood-stained Army jacket remained.
My jacket.
DNA belonged to Nathan.
Another message appeared:
ONE BROTHER RETURNS.
ONE BROTHER STAYS DEAD.
Then Army investigators arrested General Brooks.
He denied everything and claimed the man who called Harper wore his voice.
