Chapter 14 - The Final Countdown
I grabbed my laptop from the seat.
I ran back toward the mansion entrance.
I smashed the glass of the door.
I scrambled down to the underground vault.
The digital clock ticked down to five.
Four minutes left on the red display.
I plugged my laptop into the bomb.
My fingers flew across the keyboard fast.
The countdown timer slowed down to two.
One minute remaining on the explosive device.
I typed the final system disarm command.
The red numbers turned to solid green.
The ticking sound stopped instantly in silence.
I let out a ragged, exhausted breath.
I survived the final trap of syndicate.
I packed my laptop back into bag.
I walked out of the mansion forever.
The sun was setting over Coral Gables.
