Chapter 10 - LIAM

Liam Hayes lived at a private military academy under another surname.
An embryo had been created from my frozen eggs collected during surgery and Alexander’s stored sample from a military medical exam.
Neither of us consented.
The program intended to place Liam with us after marriage and call him naturally conceived.
A child designed to stabilize two senior officers.
We did not claim him automatically.
Independent advocates protected him.
Our first meeting was through glass.
He knew Alexander as “General Dad.”
He knew me as “Colonel Mom.”
Training films had introduced us before reality.
I said, “My name is Emma.”
Alexander said, “My name is Alex.”
Liam asked, “Are you taking me home?”
I answered, “Not unless you choose that later and people make sure it’s safe.”
The program had never taught him adults could wait.
Then another child appeared in the file.
Sophie Hayes.
Created from Claire Bennett and Nathan Brooks.
A replacement daughter for the replacement couple.
Family duplication had become complete.
The trust linked Liam and Sophie as biometric keys to defense contracts.
Children again used as corporate authority.
The court removed the keys.

Then Ashbourne disappeared.
The last location signal came from my parents’ house.
