Chapter 5 - THE BLOOD TEST

Independent prenatal testing showed Daniel was not the biological father of the baby I carried.
My son’s paternal DNA matched Michael.
My brother.
The result was horrifying.
Michael nearly collapsed.
Neither of us had consented.
The fertility clinic had stored his sample during emergency surgery years earlier.
Margaret used it to create an embryo from my egg.
The embryo was transferred during a procedure I believed treated uterine scarring.
Then Daniel raised the pregnancy publicly as his own.
Why use Michael?
Because the Collins trust required a bloodline link to both the Collins and Carter families.
My brother carried the Carter inheritance marker.
I carried the maternal side.
The unborn child would unite two fortunes.
Daniel needed legal fatherhood, not biology.
The punch in the driveway was meant to trigger premature delivery under his hospital control.
Then Michael revealed one more truth.
He had a daughter.
Age six.
Named Emma.

Her mother disappeared after visiting the same clinic.
