Chapter 6 - Elaine Had Seen Isabella Before

Elaine Parker managed donor events at St. Catherine’s.

She had no reason to protect Marcus.

That made her useful.

The next morning, she came to my hospital room.

“Ms. Rossi has attended several events connected to Thorne Medical.”

“I know.”

“There’s something else.”

Elaine had seen Isabella in the hospital two weeks earlier.

Not at a gala.

During daytime administrative hours.

“Who was she visiting?”

“She signed in under corporate affairs.”

Marcus frowned.

“We didn’t have a meeting here.”

Elaine nodded.

“That’s why I remembered.”

Hospital visitor records showed Isabella entered for forty-seven minutes.

She met someone in a conference room near the foundation offices.

No camera inside.

But hallway footage showed the person leaving afterward.

Marcus’s chief operating officer.

Andrew Vale.

Marcus looked genuinely shocked.

Andrew had worked with him for six years.

They were close enough that Andrew had been in our wedding party.

“Why would Andrew meet her secretly?”

I asked.

Marcus had no answer.

Then I remembered the unnamed number.

The one that sent Isabella my room assignment.

Marcus pulled Andrew’s contact details.

Different number.

But executives often carried secondary phones.

There was no proof yet.

Still, the possibility shifted everything.

Maybe Isabella wasn’t acting alone.

Maybe her knowledge about my pregnancy and location had come from someone whose motive had nothing to do with jealousy.

And if Andrew was involved, the twelve-million-dollar contract suddenly mattered a lot more.
