Chapter 7 - Margaret’s Real Plan
Claire agreed to meet investigators.
She brought emails, recordings, and photographs.
Margaret had approached her first.
She knew Claire and David were having an affair.
Instead of confronting them, she encouraged it.
She told Claire that I was weak, dependent, and unsuitable for the Bennett family.
She promised Claire the Madison house if she helped document my “instability.”
Margaret also convinced David that my inheritance was only the beginning.
My grandmother’s trust held shares in a medical technology company expected to be sold within the year.
If the sale closed, my portion could exceed forty million dollars.
David did not know.
Margaret did.
She had obtained an old trust summary through a private investigator.
Her plan required David to gain control of my finances before the sale.
The forged power of attorney was step one.
Temporary custody of Emma was step two.
A legal separation blaming my mental health was step three.
Then David would petition to manage the trust “for the benefit of the child.”
Margaret believed a judge would choose stability over scandal.
A wealthy father.
A polished grandmother.
A frightened little girl.
And a mother portrayed as broken.
Claire’s pregnancy complicated everything.
Margaret decided it could improve the story.
David would present Claire as a stable caregiver already integrated into Emma’s life.
The Madison house was prepared as proof of a safe family environment.
Claire admitted she participated.
She photographed me crying.
She forwarded private messages.
She lied in the custody declaration.
But she claimed she never knew David would become violent.
I believed she was telling part of the truth.
Not all of it.
People often discovered morality only when a plan began threatening them too.
Then Claire played a recording from Margaret’s kitchen.
Margaret’s voice said:
“If Sarah refuses to sign, an accident may be more persuasive.”
David answered:
“I’m not killing her.”
Margaret replied:
May you like
“You don’t need to. You only need her unable to care for Emma.”
👉 Margaret had predicted my injury before David shoved me—and the police discovered she had arranged another “accident” for the following morning.
