Chapter 13 - SELLING THE VILLA

Everyone expected me to keep the villa.
I sold it.
My attorney asked twice whether I was certain.
“Yes.”
My father loved that house.
I loved parts of it.
The garden.
The library.
The fountain.
But I did not owe architecture loyalty.
The balcony was not Brandon’s forever.
Neither was it mine.
A family bought the property.
Two children.
A dog.
The sale was ordinary.
Title work.
Inspection.
Closing.
Taxes.
No dramatic destruction.
I used part of the proceeds to buy a smaller home.
Single story.
Not because I was afraid of balconies.
I was tired of stairs after months of rehabilitation.
