Chapter 5 - Labor Behind Locked Doors

The sound of distant sirens vibrated through glass.
Inside the ballroom, the wedding toast was beginning.
Victoria stood beside the three-tiered wedding cake today.
She raised her crystal glass to the crowd.
"To my beautiful daughter Celeste and her groom!"
Victoria announced, her voice booming through microphone speakers.
The wedding guests cheered and clapped their hands.
Celeste smiled brightly in her white wedding gown.
Nobody noticed the sirens growing louder outside vineyard.
Nobody realized black tactical trucks were breaching gates.
Inside the restroom, my labor intensified rapidly now.
The contractions were coming every fifteen seconds apart.
I fell to my knees on the tile.
"Evan! Open this door!" I screamed out.
My voice banged uselessly against the thick oak.
Evan heard my screams from the hallway space.
He took two steps toward the restroom door.
Victoria grabbed his tuxedo sleeve with iron strength.
"Don't you dare move, Evan!" Victoria hissed.
"Smile for the photographer right now!"
Evan forced a fake smile onto his face.
He turned his back on his wife's screams.
A loud crashing sound suddenly shook the front.
The heavy glass entrance doors of venue shattered.
Screams erupted across the marble ballroom floor instantly.
Tactical boots thundered heavily across the polished marble.
