Chapter 2 - Two Years of Silence

Two years earlier, none of this house had looked different.

The white walls.

The bougainvillea climbing over the entrance.

The same terracotta pots.

The same family.

Only one thing had changed.

Me.

I had gone to prison.

Officially, I had confessed to financial fraud involving nearly three million dollars stolen from a construction company.

The newspapers called me greedy.

The television called me manipulative.

My own family called it justice.

Only one person knew the truth.

Austin.

He had begged me through tears.

"If I go to prison, my life is over."

He had a pregnant wife.

A career.

A future.

I had nothing except loyalty.

So I signed the confession.

I believed family protected family.

I never imagined family would erase me.

During two years behind bars...

...they never visited.

Not once.

👉 Prison taught me many things—but one unexpected visitor changed everything.
