Chapter 5 - The Recording

I opened one file.
No names.
No labels.
Just a long audio timeline.
Austin stumbled backward without realizing it.
Sheila slowly lowered the spray bottle.
My mother's folded arms relaxed.
Fear spread across all three faces at exactly the same moment.
Interesting.
Only guilty people recognize evidence before hearing it.
I pressed play.
One faint second.
Just enough.
"...Summer—"
Pause.
I locked the screen immediately.
Austin took a desperate step toward me.
"Summer, don't play that."
I slipped the phone behind my back.
"No."
"You've had two years."
May you like
"Now it's my turn."
👉 Austin's panic confirmed something far more valuable than any recording ever could.
