Chapter 5 - MY SISTER’S SECRET
Anna admitted contacting Caleb.
She did not work for him.
She had been pretending to cooperate for six months.
Our mother became suspicious of Caleb before her death. She asked Anna to stay away publicly so one of us would remain outside his control.
Anna moved to a rented apartment across town and began collecting evidence.
She allowed Caleb to believe he had turned her against me.
The message—SHE BELIEVES YOU—referred to the lie that Anna accepted his version of the staircase fall.
Her deception had protected the camera footage and metal box.
But she had hidden the plan from me.
“I thought knowing would put you in more danger.”
“That was not your choice.”
She lowered her eyes.
“You’re right.”
The apology mattered because she did not defend the secrecy.
Ortiz sent agents to Sarah’s address.
They found a small farmhouse registered to our mother under another name.
Sarah Walker lived there with a nurse and used a wheelchair.
She had survived multiple surgeries after Caleb and Lenora pushed her from a barn loft twenty-two years earlier.
Their father helped cover it up.
Sarah was declared dead under a false identity and hidden in a rehabilitation facility.
Our mother discovered her years later while investigating Caleb.
She secretly moved Sarah and funded her care.
Sarah possessed the earliest evidence.
She testified by secure video from a protected location.
Lenora controlled the Walker family through fear and inheritance.
She believed weakness endangered the family image.
When Sarah tried to expose her father’s embezzlement, Lenora ordered Caleb to “teach her loyalty.”
Caleb pushed his sister.

Sarah believed the cemetery caretaker helped her.
Ortiz questioned him.
He admitted a woman in a black veil paid him to place the box inside the burial vault.
