Chapter 6 - SAINT AGNES

Federal agents entered Saint Agnes through a service tunnel.
They found treatment rooms, child restraints, embryo storage, and forged birth records.
Margaret had left again.
Lily had been there.
A small handprint remained on a glass door.
Dr. Samuel Miller’s computer contained the full Carter-Miller reproductive program.
The embryos used in both my pregnancies came from my eggs.
They had been taken during the year I spent in the treatment center.
The donor for Lily and her twin was unknown.
The donor for my current baby was listed as J.M.
Jason Miller.
DNA testing contradicted it.
The true donor had been edited out.
Dr. Reed decrypted an archived video.
Samuel spoke to Margaret.
“The new fetus matches Lily at ninety-eight percent.”
Margaret replied, “Then Emily stays alive until delivery.”
Afterward?
The answer appeared in a document titled maternal closure.
It described a staged hemorrhage and cremation.
Jason had not merely planned to take my daughter.
He planned my death.
The video also revealed that Lily’s twin might have survived.
Baby B was transferred to an investor family under the name Grace.
Two daughters.
Separated.
One kept for treatment.
One sold to finance the program.
Margaret had raised Lily because illness made her medically valuable.
Grace went to a wealthy couple in Virginia.
Federal agents contacted them.
The couple insisted the adoption was legal.
DNA testing confirmed Grace was mine.
They claimed they never knew I existed.
The truth would be handled carefully.
Grace knew them as her parents.
Biology could expose the crime without erasing her emotional life.
Then Lily’s medication records showed she had less than forty-eight hours before a dangerous relapse.
Margaret controlled the remaining doses.
Samuel’s formula was encrypted.

The only person who knew the password was Jason.
He demanded to see me.
