Forensic technicians opened the altered cartridge.

Inside the transmitter housing was dried blood.

Daniel’s blood.

Hale had used biological material to bind the tracker to Daniel’s identity.

Every time the bullet transmitted, it authenticated Daniel as the ammunition handler.

The program had framed him across multiple shipments.

But one sample did not match.

It belonged to Tyler.

He had personally assembled tracker rounds.

His involvement went beyond range harassment.

He helped manufacture evidence.

Tyler accepted a plea only after the DNA result.

Blake lost rank and faced charges for surveillance and conspiracy.

Nguyen received no medal for simply doing what duty required.

He preferred it that way.

Hale remained missing.

Then the Defense Ballistics Archive came back online by itself.

A live target appeared.

Desert range.

Metal bucket.

Scattered brass.
