Chapter 6 - CLAIRE’S WEDDING

For months, I felt guilty that our wedding became the place Noah ran.
Ridiculous.
Still true.
The photographs stopped at 8:41 p.m.
One minute I was holding Daniel’s hand under chandeliers.
The next, blood was on my wedding dress from Noah’s forehead.
I never had the cake-cutting.
Never threw flowers.
Never danced with my father.
People kept saying:
“You can redo it.”
I didn’t want to.
A wedding is not ruined because its schedule collapses.
Our marriage began with Daniel choosing his nephew over appearances.
That told me more than a perfect reception ever could.
Still, trauma attached itself to the dress.
I stored it for two years.
Then donated it to a nonprofit that repurposed wedding gowns.
No dramatic burning.

No hatred.
Just fabric no longer needed.
